Picture update

Due to the high demand for photos, I've posted more for your viewing pleasure.  I've been told to remember the peaceful sleeping child pose with fondness....

Mom is feeling good and ready to take her baby boy home.
Dad gets to lay in the fancy bed and show his "baby whisperer" skills.
He has a bright future opening jars with his feet!

Grandparents at the Gate

The four grandparents, waiting, um, patiently, before the birth.  Don't they look sedate as the blithely ignore the hospitals' policy on consuming alcohol on the premises. :)

More pics!

The hospital-supplied hats were not suitable for my son. :)

In recovery room...

He's here!

He made it - Early!  We went in for our last appointment before our scheduled C section on Friday morning and Dayna's doctor was a little concerned about her fluid level.  On the spot she decided that Dayna need to be delivered that day.  That was at 1 p.m.  Dayna delivered our healthy baby boy that evening.  The section was a little tough - and we now know why he wasn't turning head down - his 14" melon was keeping him in place!

Owen Robert Blumel was born at 8:09 p.m., Friday.  7 lbs 9 oz and 20.75" long.  He"s doing great and mom is recovering nicely.  below are some pics.

His first clothing experience was not a good one.

Baby Blumel's Nursery

We are definitely ready for the baby to arrive!

Rob worked a number of hours on the room which included not only new paint, but beadboard, shelf rail, & crown molding. Raquel came in for 4 days from California and we pulled the room together.  After re-arranging the room in 15 different ways, we finally decided on the layout. Thanks to the 1940's cape cod style, we had many ceiling lines and awkward walls to figure out, but it all worked in the end!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the room, Baby B will be one happy little guy.

Here are a few pictures of the finished product.

Christmas Day!

First post.  We're new to the blogging thing but I figure since we have sooo much to offer the world, why not.  :)

Baby news is that due to our little boys' inclination to remain as he is, laid back and horizontal in the womb, we have  a scheduled C - section 9:30 am, December 29th!  We get to the hospital at 8, and by 10 we have a baby.  Sweet!

Christmas has been spent at home - Dayna is not too big, in fact I'm having trouble keeping her down, but we'd rather not risk anything so all the family came to us.  Well, our parents at least.

Christmas Eve was spent here with my parents, and today we're with Dayna's folks. Quiet and relaxing, very nice.

Merry Christmas everyone!  We will post pictures when the baby arrives!
